Ingredients
20 large pasta shells
1½ cups ricotta cheese
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 large egg
2 cups marinara sauce
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
1 teaspoon dried oregano
½ teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the pasta: Boil the shells according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and let cool slightly.
- Make the filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, ½ cup mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, parsley, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
- Stuff the shells: Fill each pasta shell generously with the ricotta mixture.
- Prepare the baking dish: Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a baking dish.
- Arrange the shells: Place the stuffed shells open side up in a single layer over the sauce.
- Add more sauce: Pour the remaining marinara sauce evenly over the shells.
- Top with cheese: Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella on top.
- Bake covered: Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25–30 minutes.
- Finish uncovered: Remove foil and bake for another 10–15 minutes until the cheese is melted and golden.
- Serve: Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.
