Description

This Sour Cream Banana Bread recipe is a classic breakfast treat that is incredibly moist and flavorful. You can even swap out the sour cream for Greek yogurt for a slightly tangy twist.


Ingredients

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. salt

Wet Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup mashed bananas (about 3 bananas)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add Eggs and Bananas: Beat in the eggs and then stir in the mashed bananas.
  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Mix in the sour cream and vanilla. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until just combined.
  6. Optional Nuts: Fold in the chopped walnuts, if using.
  7. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
