Juicy and flavorful burgers stuffed with gooey mozzarella cheese and topped with a delicious pesto mayo. These Mozzarella Stuffed Burgers with Pesto Mayo are perfect for your next grilling session!
Ingredients
Mozzarella Burgers:
- 2 lb ground chuck
 - 1/2 c Italian breadcrumbs
 - 1 egg
 - 1 tsp garlic powder
 - 1 tsp Italian seasoning
 - 1/2 tsp sea salt
 - 1/2 tsp pepper
 - 6 fresh mozzarella slices, cut to about 1.5 by 2 inches, 1/2 inch thickness
 
Optional Pesto Mayo:
- 1 ½ T pesto
 - 1/3 c mayonnaise
 
Instructions
- Mozzarella Burgers: Combine all burger ingredients except mozzarella. Form patties around mozzarella slices.
 - Grill or Stove Top: Cook burgers 4-5 minutes per side until 160°F. Make pesto mayo.
 - Air Fryer: Cook burgers at 350°F for 5-7 minutes per side.
 
Notes
- To ensure melted mozzarella, don’t make burgers too thick.
 - Cook medium well for fully melted cheese.
 - Don’t overwork meat for juicy burgers.
 - Start with cold patties for a charred crust and juicy interior.
 - If pressed for time, add mozzarella on top of burgers instead of stuffing.
