Description

If you’re craving a dinner that’s both easy to prepare and packed with flavor, these Maple Mustard Chicken Thighs are the perfect choice. The sweet, tangy maple syrup combines beautifully with the sharpness of Dijon mustard to create a rich, flavorful glaze that makes every bite of juicy chicken a delight. Paired with aromatic garlic, onion, and fresh herbs, this dish is sure to impress anyone at your table.

Ingredients

4 chicken thighs, bone-in and skin-on

1/4 cup maple syrup

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh herbs (e.g., thyme or parsley) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it’s properly heated before cooking.
  2. Prepare the Marinade:
In a mixing bowl, combine maple syrup, Dijon mustard, olive oil, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix thoroughly until well emulsified.
  3. Season the Chicken:
Place the chicken thighs in a baking dish. Season generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. Add the Marinade:
Pour the maple mustard mixture over the chicken thighs, making sure the chicken is well-coated.
  5. Marinate:
Allow the chicken to marinate for at least 10 minutes. For deeper flavor, marinate for several hours if possible.
  6. Bake:
Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
  7. Baste If Desired:
Halfway through baking, baste the chicken with the pan sauce to enhance the flavor and moisture.
  8. Broil for Crispiness:
For an extra crispy skin, switch to broil for the last 2-3 minutes of cooking, but be sure to watch closely to avoid burning.
  9. Let Rest:
Once done, remove the dish from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to allow the juices to settle.
  10. Garnish and Serve:
Sprinkle fresh herbs on top before serving to add a pop of color and fresh flavor

Notes

  • Add Vegetables: You can roast vegetables like sweet potatoes, carrots, or Brussels sprouts alongside the chicken to create a one-pan meal.
  • Substitute the Chicken: If you prefer, you can use chicken breasts or thighs without the skin, but note that they may not be as crispy.
  • Adjust Sweetness: If you like a sweeter glaze, you can increase the amount of maple syrup.
