Description

Beat the summer heat with this refreshing Mango Iced Tea! Combining sweet, ripe mangoes with a splash of lemon and a hint of mint, this drink is a tropical delight perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

For the Mango Syrup:

13 oz mango pulp (~3 ripe mangoes)

64 oz water, divided

1 cup sugar

1 tablespoon lemon juice

For the Tea:

45 black tea bags

Mint leaves and lime slices (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Mango Puree:
  2. Cut the mangoes in half, remove the seeds, and scoop the pulp into a blender. Puree until smooth. Strain the puree to remove any fibrous bits.
  3. Brew the Tea:
  4. Boil 32 oz of water in a pot, then add the black tea bags. Remove the pot from heat and allow the tea to steep for 15 minutes. Discard the tea bags and chill the tea in the fridge.
  5. Make the Simple Syrup:
  6. In another pot, bring the remaining 32 oz of water to a boil. Stir in the sugar and dissolve it. Add lemon juice and simmer on low heat until the syrup is formed (it should be slightly sticky). Remove from heat.
  7. Combine Mango and Syrup:
  8. Stir the mango puree into the simple syrup. Mix until smooth. Let the syrup chill in the fridge.
  9. Shake the Drink:
  10. In a cocktail shaker, add ice, 4 oz of mango syrup, and 4 oz of brewed black tea. Shake well for about 30 seconds.
  11. Serve:
  12. Pour the mixture into a tall glass filled with ice. Top off with more chilled black tea if desired. Garnish with lime slices and mint leaves.

Notes

  • Tea Strength: If you prefer a lighter tea flavor, add extra water to dilute.
  • Tea Alternatives: Swap black tea with green tea for a lighter version.
  • Frozen Mango: If fresh mango isn’t available, frozen mango chunks or canned mango puree work great too.
  • Chill Everything: Serve the drink cold! Start with chilled mango syrup and chilled tea to keep the drink refreshing and avoid quick melting ice.
