Description

A simple and flavorful recipe for Garlic Sautéed Swiss Chard, perfect as a healthy side dish. Fresh Swiss chard is sautéed with olive oil and garlic until tender and lightly wilted, then seasoned with kosher salt for a delicious and nutritious vegetable dish.

Ingredients

Swiss Chard

  • 1 bunch of swiss chard, approximately 6 to 8 stems

Other Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • ¼ cup water
  • Kosher salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prep the Swiss chard: Remove the stems at the bottom of the leaves and slice them. Roll the leaves into a cigar-like shape and slice horizontally into one-inch wide strips.
  2. Cook the garlic and stems: Heat olive oil in a sauté pan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds, then add water and the sliced chard stems. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until stems soften.
  3. Add the leaves: Add the chard leaves to the pan and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the leaves have wilted down.
  4. Serve: Sprinkle kosher salt to taste over the sautéed Swiss chard before serving.

Notes

  • Use a high-quality olive oil for best flavor.
  • Opt for a high-quality sea salt like Himalayan salt for seasoning.
  • All-Clad or other good-quality sauté pans help achieve even cooking.
  • Adjust water quantity to prevent burning while allowing vegetables to steam slightly.
