Ingredients
For the Beef Marinade:
1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons dry sherry
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
1 teaspoon cornstarch
For the Stir-Fry:
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 pound broccoli florets
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
¼ cup water
1 tablespoon sesame oil
2 teaspoons sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Marinate the Beef: In a bowl, combine sliced flank steak with soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, and water until the sugar and cornstarch are dissolved. Set aside.
- Cook the Broccoli: Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add broccoli and stir-fry for 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
- Cook the Beef: In the same skillet, add the marinated beef in a single layer. Let it sear for 1 minute without stirring, then stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until browned and cooked through.
- Combine and Simmer: Return broccoli to the skillet with beef. Pour the prepared sauce over the mixture, stir to combine, and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Finish and Serve: Drizzle sesame oil over the stir-fry and toss to combine. Garnish with sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
