Description

These decadent caramel swirl brownies combine a rich chocolate brownie base with a luxurious swirl of sweet, gooey caramel. The perfect blend of fudgy chocolate, buttery caramel, and a touch of sea salt will leave you craving more. Ideal for dessert lovers looking for an indulgent treat!

Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)

2 cups granulated sugar

1 cup packed light brown sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ teaspoon salt

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For the Caramel Swirl:

1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 teaspoon sea salt (for sprinkling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Melt the Butter: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the butter completely. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in the granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: Allow the mixture to cool for a few minutes, then add the eggs one at a time, stirring thoroughly after each addition. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients, being careful not to overmix. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  5. Prepare the Caramel Swirl: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the brownie batter, then use a knife or toothpick to swirl it together gently.
  6. Add Remaining Batter: Pour the remaining brownie batter over the caramel layer and spread evenly. Drizzle the remaining caramel sauce on top and, again, use a knife to create swirls without mixing the layers completely.
  7. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). Be careful not to overbake.
  8. Cooling and Serving: Once baked, sprinkle sea salt over the top while the brownies are still warm. Allow them to cool in the pan set on a wire rack for about 20-30 minutes before slicing into squares.
  9. Enjoy: Serve these indulgent caramel swirl brownies warm or at room temperature, and consider pairing them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra treat!

Notes

  • For an added crunch, try adding chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts to the brownie batter.

  • For a richer flavor, use dark chocolate chips instead of semi-sweet.

  • To elevate the flavor, consider swirling peanut butter into the caramel for a salty-sweet twist.
