Description
British Meat Pies are a traditional comfort food made with golden, flaky shortcrust pastry filled with savory ground beef, onion, and thyme. These classic handheld pies are ideal for cozy dinners, parties, or enjoying a slice of British culinary tradition at home.
Ingredients
2 cups shortcrust pastry
1 lb lean ground beef
1 medium onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tsp dried thyme
1 egg (for egg wash)
Instructions
- 
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
 - 
Roll out shortcrust pastry to 1/4 inch thick. Cut circles to line pie tins and place them in the tins.

Sauté onion and garlic in a skillet until soft. Add beef and cook until browned.

Stir in broth and thyme. Simmer until slightly thickened. Let cool slightly.

Spoon meat mixture into pastry-lined tins. Top with another pastry round and crimp edges.

Brush with beaten egg.
 - 
Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

Cool slightly before serving.

- Use store-bought pastry for convenience.

 - Let filling cool before assembling to prevent soggy pastry.
